Confessio Amantis of John Gower, edited and collated with the best manuscripts by Dr. Reinhold Pauli. London: Bell and Daldy, 1857. Printed very beautifully with ligatures and long S. The colophon, printed in black and red, is different in different copies.—All the older editions are deprecated as unreliable by Mr. Macauley in his preface to the Oxford edition below; but the beauty of this edition at least recommends it to the book-lover, and at this price we can all afford it.
